Caterpillars!!

 

 We look forward to finding Monarch caterpillars every Spring!!

We started looking on April 11th and found a few and then added a few more since then...teeny tiny ones to medium sized ones...

We've got our first chrysalis and many more to go! 

We don't always love getting new milkweed, every other day, for them to keep eating and growing but this process is so much fun!!

Caterpillars!!

 We've been looking at all the milkweed for a couple of weeks and hadn't found any caterpillars; so we were thrilled when Ryan found two in two days!! 

We did find a bumble bee though! 

One started making it's J before the chrysalis but unfortunately they both stopped there and didn't make it any further. We were pretty bummed:(

Monarch Butterflies!!

Over the last month or so; we've gotten to watch eggs hatch, baby caterpillars grow, eat tons of milkweed that we had to keep picking from the pasture, form chrysalises, see butterflies emerge and release butterflies 13 times!! It's been so fun to watch Fynlie's amazement and the life cycle is just incredible to me as well! 

Such a joy!!!
