Earlier in the school year, Katie was assigned to write an essay entitled "A Colonial Family's Reaction to The Stamp Act" for Social Studies. We knew that every students' essay would be submitted to the local chapter of the DAR but was very surprised the day that Katie came home and said that her teacher received an email saying that she won for the 5th grade! How exciting! Soon after, she was awarded a ribbon at school during lunch and we received an invitation to attend the DAR meeting and watch Katie receive her certificate and medal along with other students that were being recognized!
We learned a lot about the Daughters of the American Revolution and loved getting to experience their meeting and their special George Washington Tea and Special Speaker.
