Movin' On Up...

As Katie finished 2nd grade and is headed to 3rd, we see she's such an amazing girl with her own style! She fixes her own hair now, including blow drying and flat ironing.  She has an opinion about every outfit she wears and doesn't really care what others think! She certainly loves art and thinks of Art Days as her favorite this past school year.  She is great at Math and tries to figure out new ways to add numbers together in her head. She can read absolutely anything and can carry on a conversation like an adult...that is when she's in the mood to talk. She definitely likes her quiet and alone time.

She is also impressive with her trustworthy character...
The other day, her ipod got taken away for being disrespectful and she couldn't use it for the whole day.  Well, Ryan and I were outside for a couple of hours walking and doing things. While the girls were inside alone, Rylie told Katie to just go ahead and play it because we'll never know.  Katie told her that God will know and she doesn't want to disappoint him.
When Katie told me this story, later in the evening, I teared up because I was so proud of her!

She's quite witty as well...
Katie was with MamaJan and MamaJan was giving her love pats as she was cuddling her and it's always a joke about the "hard" love pats from her and Grandmother.  Well, Katie told her "If I hit you as hard as I love you, you'd have to go to the emergency room."

Kindergarten's Complete

Rylie has certainly grown so much this school year! She's a great leader and helper in class...I sure hope that's true and her teacher's not just saying that:)  She loves doing math and asks us to give her "hard" math problems to solve in her head! She's also become an excellent reader! I've been so impressed with her skills! The other day, she was reading a Junie B. Jones chapter book in the car and said "Mom, she is so funny and she's going to 1st grade, just like me! She said that she's really nervous about her new classroom and teacher." It just amazes me that she can read those big words, comprehend and relate it to her own life. I'm so proud of her!

She was also reading some birthday cards and one had a kitty on it and said something like, I wish you a purrr-fect birthday! Rylie says, "that's just so cute instead of saying the regular perfect, you know, they said purrr-fect, get it?" I was thinking--you get it and you're so smart

She definitely makes us laugh often! She's also become very creative and thoughtful with the amount of drawings and notes that she leaves for all of us around the house.  She'll leave a sticky note for Katie by her toothbrush when she knows she'll be going to brush her teeth soon. She leaves notes for her mommy and daddy by our bed or on our pillow.

A note from Ms. Strawn...so sweet!

Goodbye Classroom...
I did get teary walking out of my classroom for the last time. Thankfully I got to leave my room decorated for a great friend that will be taking over 2nd grade math.  I've had a terrific experience as a teacher for nearly 5 years, but I'm very excited to be a stay at home mom again!

Katie did a countdown on my board the last two weeks!

Lunch Notes from the year...stuffed into the side of their lunch box everyday!!
